GENERAL ISSUES

Civil Surgeons:

- ADN working to develop improved management of the listing for designated civil surgeons authorized to perform adjustment of status medicals.

Commissioner Meeting:

- Members of the Douglas, AZ City council met with the Commissioner on 04/12.  

PROJECTS/REGULATIONS

TPS:

- 04/13 NGO/INS/DOS quarterly meeting held.

- UN has declared support for temporary asylum (equivalent to our TPS) for Colombia.

EB5: 

-  Regional center decisions in final clearance. 

Internet Content:

- Interactive e-mail with the public has been deferred. 

"Team H1B" Adjudication Responsibilities:

- H-1B proposed rule to Commr. 4/13.

- Interim rule (F&J) returned to DOJ with revisions 04/18.

Family Unity Final Rule: 

- Pending DOJ clearance.

212(a) Final Rule: 

- Pending final clearance.  Advance copy has been sent to DOJ.

Tax Expatriate Rule:

- GAO conducted audit on the delay in implementation of this law, and issued its report 3/31/00 explaining the flaws in the law and the reason for the delays.

- Joint Committee on Taxation hearing averted due to INS intent to publish a proposed rule by the end of May, FY00.

- The draft rule has been cleared by IRS and DOS and is pending with COU.

H1C Rule: 

- Rule in INS clearance circulation.

H2A Rule: 

- Rule in INS clearance 

Fiancee Rule: 

- Rule signed by Commr. and forwarded to OLC/DOJ for clearance 03/29.

Marshall Island Residence Rule:

- Pending clearance then to Commr.

Special Immigrant Juvenile Rule:

- Interim rule in INS clearance.

Polish/Hungarian Adjustment of Status: 

- The final rule was signed by the Commr. and forwarded to DOJ for clearance 3/29.

Physicians Rule:

- Reg in INS clearance circulation.

CIPRIS:

- ADN staff completed review of over 5000 proposed fee rule comments.

- On April 11th, ADN attended the American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) annual convention in Washington, DC and participated on a panel regarding an update on the proposed fee rule.

VAWA Rule: 

- The final rule was sent to DOJ 3/21 for clearance.

Students/BCC Policy Paper: 

- Draft policy memo under review.
